What will I get out of the course

This qualification provides a practical, advanced and detailed understanding of the dynamic regulatory landscape and risk management strategies that can be implemented to monitor and manage risk in your organisation.  The qualification looks at the important part good corporate governance plays in the establishment of a compliance mindset within the teams and how to inculcate a good ethical culture. 

You will learn how to design and implement a governance risk and compliance system complete and learn all about monitoring and surveillance processes, procedures and reporting.  You will learn how to be a valued strategic advisor to the business and how to manage internal and external stakeholders.  People and performance management along with strong leadership skills are developed through dedicated activities.  You will become highly competent in all aspects of data management including analytics and computational modelling, storytelling and visualisation, information security and cybercrime. 

This study programme will enable you to:

- develop your critical thinking skills so as to become a trusted advisor to the business
- assess international frameworks and best practice and leverage insights on risks and appropriate mitigants, enhancing your work-based decision making
- augment your skills in evaluating regulatory risk strategies
- develop your monitoring and surveillance techniques and tools ensuring appropriate control measures are in place, mitigating risk still further
- communicate effectively with all stakeholders
- understand data and how it can be analysed and reported in an impactful way

Who is this course suitable for?

Typically, those who complete this qualification are:

  • already working within a compliance function and looking to develop their knowledge and skills still further and also advance their career

  • have been working within financial services for some time, have already completed a lower level ICA compliance qualification and looking to accelerate their career in the compliance function


  • Individuals with compliance responsibilities as part of their existing role, have already obtained the ICA Advanced Certificate in Regulatory Compliance and who wish to play a bigger part in the compliance function

What’s my expected commitment?

Everybody has their own preferred way of learning and we have prepared materials to make learning as inclusive as possible.  The course lasts for 10 months from start to finish, which is a big commitment.   But it is broken down into modules, and each module takes just 7 weeks to complete. 

Studying involves a mix of self-study, interactive learning sessions with live instructor-led virtual classrooms where you will be studying with likeminded individuals.  The materials are hosted on the ICA Learning Management System and are full of rich media content.  The LMS also has options for engaging with your fellow students as well as additional support by the tutor. 

Each of the 6 modules on the Diploma comes with 3 x 3-hour highly interactive virtual classrooms where knowledge is put in practice in a safe environment.  As good as the classrooms are, you will still need to commit between 4 and 6 hours a week – depending on your existing level of knowledge and experience – reading and learning the training materials, as well as reading around the subject.

How will I be assessed

Each of the 6 core modules comes with an assessment.  4 of the modules are assessed by written assignment and each assignment must be between 3,000 and 3,500 words in length.  2 of the modules are assessed by examination, and the examination last 3 hours.


To make the most of this course you should…

  • Have a good standard of written and spoken English.
  • Have achieved academic qualifications such as diploma, university degree or vocational qualification such as the ICA Advanced Certificate in Regulatory Compliance.
  • Have a minimum of three years of direct knowledge and experience in compliance in financial services.

Designation awarded

Upon completion, you will be rewarded:

  • ICA Diploma in Regulatory Compliance which is awarded by ICA in association with Alliance Manchester Business School, The University of Manchester
  • Participants who successfully complete this course with at least 3 years of relevant financial services industry experience and fulfill the required number of Technical Skills and Competencies (TSCs) for the selected job role can apply to be conferred the IBF Advanced (Level 2/3) certification status.

What does it cost?

Each module on the diploma is $2,650 plus GST.

IBF-STS Funding

This programme has been accredited under the IBF Standards, and is eligible for funding under the IBF Standards Training Scheme (IBF-STS), subject to all eligibility criteria being met.

Candidates are advised to assess the suitability of the programme and its relevance to participants’ business activities or job roles.

IBF-STS provides 70%* funding for direct training costs subject to a cap of S$7,000 per candidate per programme subject to all eligibility criteria being met.
