Christmas remains one of the most magical time of the year in our sunny, snowless Singapore.
Families come together to have dinner and exchange gifts. Sometimes we modify the menu such as roasted chicken instead of turkey, salad instead of sprouts, shepherd’s pie instead of mashed potatoes and lots of log cake. However, in the last few years, it has become a trend for families to dine out instead. Nothing better than an amazing buffet spread and a spotless kitchen!
Insta-worthy X-mas lights
Every year in November, the shopping district in Singapore, Orchard Rd, will be lit with Christmas lights. We have different themes for each year. This year the theme is “Endless Wonder”. It has become tradition for families to make a trip down to Orchard Road just to check out the lights, Christmas trees and soak in the Christmas feels. Malls along this road are most probably secretly competing on who has the biggest and prettiest Christmas tree. One year, we had a Swarovski Christmas tree and it was humongous! You can even enter the tree. If you are dreaming of a white Christmas- Our Gardens by the Bay annual Yuletide event has various family friendly activities which includes outdoor skating rink & “snowfall”.
SALE SALE SALE! In Singapore, people look forward to Christmas sales and discounted prices. It does not matter if you are celebrating Christmas or not. Regardless of race, language or religion, if there is a sale, we are there! It is not pure coincidence that for most companies in Singapore, bonuses are given out in December.
